PREMCHAND’S STORIES are now available in an abridged comic-book form at the ongoing book fair. The books are selling well. As part of the 125th birth anniversary celebrations of Munshi Premchand, the UP Hindi Sansthan published these books for children.
At the UP Hindi Sansthan (UPHS) bookstall, these are the books selling the most. The stall in charge said, “When we came to the fair, we never expected these books to sell the way they are selling. We have more than 100 titles but these 13 Premchand books are a hit. Even adults are taking them away enthusiastically.”
Out of the 13 titles, five are adapted plays and the rest abridged stories. The titles available are Idgah, Prerna, Panch-Parmeshwar, Kafan, Shatranj ke Khilade and Budhi Kaki, all priced at Rs 5 each. Rachna, buying the books, said, “I am buying them for my children aged 7 and 12 years.
I am sure they would love to read these books. Premchand’s books are evergreen. I believe children must read his work and know the stories.” UPHS brought out these books as part of celebrations carried out throughout the State to commemorate 125th birth year of Munshi Premchand. The aim of coming out with the books was to make children familiar with Premchand.
