President APJ Abdul Kalam on Thursday greeted the country on the occasion of Guru Ravidas Jayanti and said the poet-saint's message of compassion and religious harmony was relevant in the present times.
"Guru Ravidas led a life of faith and devotion. He dedicated himself by giving to humanity, irrespective of caste and creed," Kalam said in a message on the eve of his birth anniversary.
He said the 14th century Guru's "message of love, truth, compassion and religious harmony is relevant in times to come" and asked countrymen to rededicate themselves to the teachings of the great saint.
Guru Ravidas founded a spiritual movement in the 14th century.
