The proposed visit of President Pratibha Patil on Friday has taken a toll on the functioning of the administration. Citizens are at the receiving end as senior officials of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and the district administration are busy making the last-minute arrangements for the VIP visit.

The President is slated to inaugurate a seminar on Media and Governance, to be held at Haryana Institute of Public Administration at 10am.

People complained that their work with administration will get delayed by at least by one week as offices will be shut for the weekend after the visit.

On Wednesday, hundreds of people returned disappointed. “I wanted to meet the DC but he is away for a meeting,” said Madan Mishra of Harsaru village.

“We’ve come to meet the MCG commissioner to apprise him of the poor sanitary service by the contractor. We also wanted to hand over a memorandum too,” said Rambir Singh, a Narsinghpur resident.
