Primary teacher suspended for dereliction of duty

india Updated: Oct 08, 2006 16:33 IST

ADDITIONAL DIRECTOR Education and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Zillah Panchayat Ashutosh Awasthi today suspended a teacher for dereliction of duty.

According to Awasthi the government primary school located in village Akia under the Khurail area in the Mhow tehsil has classes from standard first up till fifth and up to 60 students. The school has only two teachers and one of them was shifted some time back to DIET, Depalpur.

Manisha Pandey was the only teacher left under whose charge the school was functioning. As she lives in Indore city and the school is located in a remote interior area she seldom visited the place.

The school resultantly opened only for eight days in two months. She is also accused of having dispensed off with the material provided under the mid-day meal scheme. Interestingly complaints were not only received against the teacher but also against the Palak-Shikshak Sangh president Kishore Kelwa who is accused of misappropriating the development fund (Vikas Nidhi).

Awasthi today issued orders for suspending the teacher and also issued a show cause notice to the Janshikshak Tarun Verma for not having performed his duty of inspecting the schools under his charge. Orders for immediately appointing two contractual teachers (Sanvida Shikshak) has also been issued simultaneously.

According to sources most of the students belong to the tribal background and a number of them have been admitted to the nearby Geeta Gyan private school.
