Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today arrived in Banglore to inaugurate the centenary celebrations of the country's premier scientific research organisation, the Indian Institute of Science.
Singh, who arrived at the Yelanka Airforce Station, was received by Karnataka Governor Rameshwar Thakur, Chief Minister, B S Yeddyurappa, the leader of the Opposition in the Karnataka Assembly Mallikarjun Kharge, KPCC President R V Deshpande and its Working President D K Shivakumar.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to launch the year-long celebrations planned by the institute to mark the historic occasion. He will unveil a commemorative plaque at the institute today.
He is also scheduled to dedicate the International Centre for Material Science of the Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advance Scientific Research on the outskirts of the society.
On the campus, Singh will also inaugurate the CNR Hall of Science.
