Principal among five booked for eveteasing college girls

Girl students of a polytechnic college hostel in Kanpur protested against alleged eve-teasing by five staff members, including the college principal, police said.

Girl students of a polytechnic college hostel in Kanpur protested against alleged eve-teasing by five staff members, including the college principal, police said.

The incident took place on Saturday night during a checking of the hostel rooms of Government Polytechnic College in Nawabganj area, when college principal FR Khan, stenographer CK Upadhyay and three others allegedly eve-teased the girls, Swaroop Nagar circle officer Aatish Kumar Singh said.

The victims staged a protest against the incident which took place on the college premises and raised slogans against the principal, demanding immediate arrest of the accused.

Based on their complaint, a case has been registered against the five accused under sections 354 and 511 of the IPC, the CO said, adding, no arrest has been made so far and further investigation is on.

The principal could not be contacted despite several attempts.
