Principal of a private orphanage school in Hyderabad was arrested on Sunday by police on charges of sexually harassing minor girls.
"We have arrested Malyadri, Principal of Siriya Orphanage, after a local TV channel conducted sting operation, wherein it was showed that minor girls were being sent outside the orphanage late in the night in vehicles," Inspector Ravinder Reddy said.
According to preliminary investigation, Malyadri sexually harassed the minor girls at the orphanage.
"The girls were being called by the principal to his room during late hours seeking sexual favours," Reddy said.
The orphanage school was being run by Malyadri in Prasad Nagar for the past three years and there were over 130 students most of them girls, he said.
Investigations were on and details whether the school was recognised or not would be known only after examining the records, he added.
As the news spread in the locality about the alleged involvement of the school principal in sexual harassment, locals gathered in front of a police station demanding stern action against Malyadri.
