THE BHOPAL Central Jail has organised the first examination for the MBA and DCA courses for prisoners. Exams are being held with the assistance of Bhoj Open University. The examinations will continue up to December 30. This is the first examination for a batch of prisoners that had enrolled in the professional courses, which began earlier this year.

For the Diploma in Computer Applications, 20 jail inmates, including a woman, are writing exams. The jail authorities claim that nowhere else examinations for a professional course like MBA have been held for prisoners from the confines of the jail.
Owing to the interest shown by prisoners, the idea was mooted and subsequently the classes were arranged with the assistance of the Bhoj University. All the expenses on conducting examinations are being borne by the jail department. All the study material was provided to the prisoners.
The university has waived 50% fee for the prisoners who appear for examinations. Professor Nafees Ahmed and Aslam Khan are the invigilators. Besides, some other prisoners are appearing for BA and MA through the Barkatullah University, according to a press release issued by the Bhopal Central Jail on Thursday.
