Campaigning for her mother Sonia, Priyanka Gandhi today advised people not to deify politicians and vote strictly on the issue of development.

"Don't look at any politician as God. Never ever become a worshipper (to any politician). Politics will improve only when you will understand that politicians are your servant," Gandhi said.

Her remark came after a woman at her election meeting shouted from the crowd, "Soniaji is God to us".

Priyanka reciprocated instantly, saying, "You are God, we are devouts and servants. People should never become devout of any politician," she said.

Priyanka was at her interactive best asking people a number of questions directly on why they should vote for Sonia Gandhi.

Earlier, she directly held talks with the masses instead of addressing them from the podium at Simrapaha, Udawamau, Behatakala and Lalganj under Rae Bareli Lok Sabha constituency.

She told people it was their responsibility to make the politician realise that they want development.
