INDORE DISTRICT court on Thursday transferred the case of Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra from Mhow to Indore. As a result, the next hearing will be held in the court of Civil Judge Class I V S Muvel on February 22. The former Miss World is expected to appear along with her father on the next date.

Chopra’s lawyer Chandra Shekhar Raikwar said that Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) A P Rahul has accepted her plea.
The actress had moved an application before the CJM on February 7 seeking transfer of a criminal case filed by her former secretary Prakash Jaju in a court at Mhow to Indore district court.

The case pertains to threats issued to Jaju by underworld don Chhota Shakeel allegedly at the behest of Chopra and her father Ashok over a financial dispute involving Rs 1.37 crore.

Mhow is about 25 km from Indore and there have been protests in town against her role in Hindi film Kkrish. The road from Indore airport to Mhow passes through certain very dense areas and that may require heavy deployment police force if she travels by car. If the case was transferred to Indore court, she could be brought to the court straight from the airport without much problem, Raikwar contended.

The court issued a notice to Jaju following the transfer application and sought relevant case records from the court in Mhow.
