Deciding not to take the petition filed by YSR Congress against their president N Chandrababu Naidu lying down, the Telugu Desam Party today said it would drag the Congress leaders to court as they were a "beneficiary" of alleged scams during the tenure of late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.
The Andhra Pradesh high court has asked CBI, Enforcement Directorate and SEBI to conduct a preliminary investigation against Chandrababu based on YSR Congress honorary president YS Vijaya's petition and submit independent reports within three months.
"We want to fight the case legally and politically as YSR's widow filed the petition as part of a secret understanding with the Congress," TDP politburo members K Yerran Naidu and Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged at a news conference today.
Yerran Naidu, a former Union minister, said that he had raised this issue even in Parliament between 2004 and 2009.
"We are going one step at a time... We won't leave the Congress either at the Centre or in the state," the TDP leaders asserted.
Referring to the petition filed by Vijaya, they said, of the 64 mega projects wherein irregularities were allegedly committed during Chandrababu's tenure, the subsequent Cabinet headed by YSR approved 99 per cent of them based on the recommendations of a Cabinet sub-committee headed by the then finance minister K Rosaiah.
Maintaining that they were exploring all legal options to face the case against Chandrababu, the TDP leaders asserted they would not spare Jagan or the Congress leaders over their illegal acts.
