MHOW SUB Divisional Magistrate has ordered an enquiry into the allegations levelled by six SC/ST students of the Mhow Degree College against its former principal Dr Narendra Dhakad for taking bribe before handing over the scholarship cheque.
Dr Dhakad is already in the centre of a controversy over his role in handling a ragging case in Holkar Science College in Indore where a student accused of ragging committed suicide by jumping in front of a train because of the stigma attached to his name.
On the directives of the SDM John Kingsly, N K Goroliya of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department is probing the case. Goroliya said that six scheduled caste students were handed over the cheque of Rs 2,000 for scholarships and Dr Dhakad is alleged to have taken Rs 200 from each of these students against public participation fund of the college. But the students have alleged that the money was not deposited in the college account, which is the point of probe.
Goroliya said that Rs 250 is taken from the students at the time of admission for public participation fund and this matter came to light after one of the students showed the receipt to the student leaders of the college which did not have the name of the account head under which the money was received.
