Probe ordered into student killing

The district administration ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of a local 22-year youth by the police in Bhiwani when he was returning from a party in the wee hours today.

The district administration on Monday ordered a magisterial probe into the killing of a local 22-year youth by the police when he was returning from a party in the wee hours on Monday.

District Magistrate Satya Prakash said that the Sub Divisional Magistrate, Bhiwani Shiv Prasad Sharma has been asked to conduct a probe into the incident in which was alleged that the student was shot dead by the Hissar Police near in Bhiwani on early Monday.

The SDM would complete his probe at the earliest and submit a report to the district administration after which further action would be taken against the guilty.

The main accused constable Karmbir Singh has been arrested after the registration of a case against eight cops following the killing of Kuldeep, a student of a local Vaish College.

The situation in the town is tense but under control following protests, including mobs damaging vehicles of the Haryana Police, after the incident. Police personnel have been deployed in the strength in the city to maintain peace.

Former Chief Minister Bhajan Lal visited the residence of the victim in the Dabra colony in Bhiwani and condemned the incident besides demanding strict action against the guilty.

Meanwhile Satpal, the father of Kuldeep said that the family would not accept any compensation to be announced by the state government, including Rs two lakh announced by the local administration out of the Red Cross fund. "I only want my son back," he added.
