Key aide of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi, TS Darbari may be asked to quit on Thursday after the inquiry panel submits its report.
According to media reports, Joint Director of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC) TS Darbari has been found guilty by Indian Olympic Association's 3-member probe panel inqiring into the alleged corruption in the CWG projects.
Once the IOA probe report is out, Darbari's removal could be ordered, reports say. He may be asked to quit his post during Thursday's executive board meeting.
IOA's three-member panel is probing the different allegations of irregular financial transactions. One of them is against small time UK firm AM films that provided some services in London during the Queen's Baton Relay. It was alleged that the firm paid whopping 250,000 pounds, beyond the required budget and that too without any written contract.
Earlier, the Sports Ministry had asked Kalmadi to sack two of his close aides in the Organising Committee. In a letter to Kalmadi, Sports Secretary Sindhushree Khullar asked for the removal of T S Darbari and Dr Sanjay Mohindroo (OC Deputy Director General) after their names figured in the investigations into "alleged irregularities" into services provided during the Queen's Baton Relay in London. According to media reports even Mohindroo may be asked to quit.
Darbari is known as the key aid of Suresh Kalmadi, chairman of CWG organising committee. He oversees important functional areas such as revenue, marketing and merchandise.
