THE TWO-MEMBER committee investigating into the attack on the car of Chief Justice of High Court AN Ray today visited village Loni Katra to collect information about the incident.
The committee consisting of Principal Secretary (Medical and Health) AK Mishra and Additional Director General (PAC) A Palanivel also recorded the statement of Barabanki district magistrate, SP and other officers who were present on the spot during the violence. The statement of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, who was in the security squad of the Chief Justice, had also been recorded. The State Government has directed the committee to submit the report within a week.
The irate mob protesting against the district administration for anti-encroachment drive had pelted stone on the car of the Chief Justice on Saturday when he was on way to Varanasi from Lucknow.
The villagers, who had resorted to road blockade on Lucknow-Sultanpur road under Loni Katra police station, had also beaten up several officers and set afire a police vehicle.
The committee met the villagers to record their version. The team also met arrested BJP leaders Sunderlal Dixit and others. The committee has invited people to record their evidence on Tuesday. The government has asked the committee to suggest measures so that such incident could not recur in future.
