A man poisoned his wife, mother and a three-year-old daughter before smothering them to death, the police said on Wednesday.
The revelation came a day after the victims were found dead at their hose in Bhora Kalan village. The deceased were identified as Suresh Devi (50), her daughter-in-law Sharmila (26) and granddaughter Nidhi (3).
The accused, Rajesh Kumar, was arrested on Tuesday night and produced in a court on Wednesday.
According to the police, Kumar confessed to have committed the crime and told the police that his wife had an extra-marital affair with his brother-in-law.
“He killed his wife first and then his mother and daughter. The incident took place late on Monday. Later, Rajesh plotted to show the death as suicides,” said Maheshwar Dayal, DCP, East.
The DCP said that Kumar called up his in-laws and a cousin and told them that his wife killed his daughter and mother before hanging herself.
Earlier, Kumar had told the police that when he woke up at 4am, he did not find his wife Sharmila in the bedroom. While Kumar’s room is on the first floor, his mother stayed on the ground floor.
