After four days of probe by the Rohtak police into the encounter of a couple by the Delhi Police near Bajrang Bhavan here, the Haryana director general of police has transferred the probe to the state crime branch, Panchkula, to conduct a fresh investigation in the case.

Jyoti, a resident of the Camp Area here and Raj Kumar, a resident of Asthal Bohar village, were shot by a team of Delhi Police team on July 7 in the centre of the city.

A DSP-level probe was being conducted to ascertain as to what led the Delhi Police to open fire at the couple, who was wanted by them in connection with abduction case of a Delhi-based trader. The Delhi Police were tailing them from Delhi and shot them near Bajrang Bhavan.

A police spokesperson said the case was transferred to the state crime branch, Panchkula, to conduct a fair and transparent investigation so that all the aspects of the case can be looked into in a professional manner.
