All is well at the Commonwealth Games, organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi claimed at a press conference on Wednesday.
Kalmadi said all problems related to athletes, volunteers and delegates had been sorted out, for which he had assured on Tuesday. He claimed that ticket box-offices have been set up in every stadium. “The situation has been rectified,” said Kalmadi.
Commonwealth Games Federation chief Michael Fennell, who also addressed the press conference, accepted the absence of fans at the venues, but said that it was being resolved. “We met this morning and went through a lot of issues,” he said. “One of the issues causing concern was that it was quite clear yesterday that a number of venues did not have a lot of spectators. We are working with the OC and they are very conscious of that and how they can be filled.”
Fennell confirmed the athletics track at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium had been partially damaged but it had been repaired.
