india Updated: Aug 22, 2006 14:50 IST

A HUGE procession will be taken out on August 22, as part of the nationwide Pepsi-Cola Bandh Day.

The bandh had been called by Pepsi-Coke:Quit India Campaign, said national convenor of Azadi Bachao Andolan Professor Banwari Lal Sharma while addressing the mediapersons here on Friday.

A large number of students of schools, colleges and the university would participate in the rally, said Professor Sharma. The rally will start from Shastri Crossing (in front of the Medical College gate) and culminate at Subhash Chowk, Civil Lines.

Professor Sharma said besides the rally, a meeting would also be held on the occasion, where a resolution demanding the cancellation of licences of Pepsi and Coke companies would be passed. The resolution would be sent to the President of India and a copy would also be sent to the Chief Justice Of India, requesting him to consider it as a PIL.

Professor Sharma has urged the citizens to participate in the rally in large numbers.

Retired Justice Rambhushan Mehrotra, Professor OP Malaviya and Professor Shri Vallabh were also present at the press conference.
