PROF AFAQ Ahmed has returned here after a four-month literary, cultural and personal tour of various cities of the Great Britain, the United States and Canada.
During the tour he attended literary gatherings, mushairas and functions organised in his honour. He presided over the function organised at London University to mark the formal release of Arshad Thanvi’s omnibus.
In Luton (the United Kingdom) he presided over the inaugural function of an international literary conference. In Canada he recited his poetry in the reception/mushaira organised to honour writer Tasleem Ilahi Zulfi.
Prof Afaq Ahmed was the chief guest in the first-ever Urdu function organised at Albuquerque (New Mexico) and shed light on the universal importance of Iqbal’s poetry.
He was also welcomed in cities like Bradford, Scarborough, Rochester and Dulles. Prof Ahmed said he was happy to get an opportunity to spread Urdu’s message of love and amity. His wife Dr Bilquees Jahan accompanied him during the tour.
