Many of these projects were pending for several months but the councillors concerned never bothered to push them. The proposals were cleared at a special standing committee meeting on Saturday that started at 2.10pm. Some members turned up late for the discussion.

But even before they could settle down, the meeting ended at 2.20pm with the committee clearing the projects without any discussion.

"These are all developmental projects and we had to clear them today as model code of conduct will be in place from Monday. We didn't want the projects to get stuck," said Yogender Chandolia, chairman of MCD's standing committee.

The projects include a proposal for the development of an automated multi-level parking lot cum commercial complex in Defence Colony.

The plan was pending for the past two years.
