Inaugurating the fourth Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament here on Monday, minister for sports of Jammu and Kashmir Taj Mohi-ud-Din said promotion of sports was important for society.
"Development of sports infrastructure is a priority for the state government," he said.
He said that various stadiums and playgrounds had been developed on modern lines for providing better facilities to the youth. Twenty-one teams from within and outside the state are participating in the tournament. The inaugural match was played between Young Sports Football Club and Sainik Colony Football Club.
