The mysterious death of a mini-bus driver has stirred protest as family members and relatives created commotion after his cremation on Wednesday morning.
After cremating Narinder Singh, 25, a resident of Gandhi Nagar, who was a mini-bus driver, family members and relatives of the deceased came out alleging murder and demanded thorough probe in the matter.
Raising slogans against the police, the angry protestors blocked the Jammu-Pathankot national highway at Digiana for more than a couple of hours. The protest was called off when senior police, minister and MLA Raman Bhalla rushed to the spot and assured action against the accused.
On Tuesday morning deceased's body was found from Dogra Hall area. There were strangulated marks on his throat, indicating murder. In the afternoon the family staged a protest and kept the body in middle of the Gandhi Nagar road.
The family alleged that their son was murdered by Daljit Singh, a tailor, who had taken a shop on rent from the deceased's family and was not giving them the monthly rent.
The deceased had a heated argument with the Daljit, who threatened him of dire consequences.Police have detained three persons including the tailor, a driver and conductor of a mini bus for their interrogation in the case.
