The Telangana lawyers called off their six-day agitation late tonight after the Andhra Pradesh government promised to ensure "equitable justice" in appointment of law officers in the High Court and Tribunals.

Talks between the agitating lawyers and the three-member Cabinet sub-committee ended on a positive note late tonight wherein the government agreed to look into the former's demands in three weeks.

Ministers J Geeta Reddy, P Ramachandra Reddy and M Venkata Ramana, who are members of the Cabinet sub-committee, led the talks with Telangana Advocates' JAC convenor M Rajender Reddy and others with MPs Madhu Yashki Goud and G Vivekananda acting as mediators, a source said.

Later, they all went to Gandhi Hospital to make the five lawyers end their indefinite fast.
