A 30-year-old scrap dealer has been arrested and allegedly confessed to the crime.
The girl left home for tuition at around 3pm on Thursday, but didn't return till late evening. Worried, her family informed the police.
At around 10pm, the police got a call from a woman, who provided paying guest accommodations in New Industrial Town area, saying a girl was lying dead in one of her rooms, with her throat slit and deep stab wounds all over the body.
The police are waiting for the autopsy report to know if the girl was raped.
The woman reportedly told the police that she saw the accused fleeing and found the girl lying in a pool of blood. The girl and the man, Sonu, came together to the guesthouse, she reportedly said.
When she asked the man for an identity proof, he said he would give it to her later, the woman reportedly told the police, who said they were verifying her claims.
“The accused confessed to the murder. He wanted to marry the girl but she wanted to wait for her elder sisters to get married,” SHO Anil Kumar said.
