PUJA REDDY of the Indian Airlines on Wednesday scored 573 points to create a national record in the 50-meter rifle three-position junior category at the national shooting championship organised at BSF Reoti Range.
She broke the record of Mhow’s Rajkumari Dodiya (572 points) to bag the gold medal. N Saini Devi from Manipur won the silver medal with 563 points and Sharda Thapa from Infantry won the bronze by scoring 559 points.
Tejaswini Sawant of Maharashtra shot for the gold in the 60-meter rifle three-position match by scoring 669.7 points. Puja Reddy had to satisfy with bronze and Kuheli Ganguli of Central Industrial Security Force won the silver medal by scoring 666.9 points.
The shooters from railways Anuja Jang, Suma Shirur and Deepali Deshpande won the 50-meter three-position team contest by scoring 1701 points and D V S Laxmipriya, Meena Kumari and Rajkumari from the Army bagged the silver with 1696 points. The bronze went to Indian Airlines team Navdeep Kaur Dhillon, Puja Reddy and Avneet Kaur who scored 1691 points.
In the junior category, NCC team comprising Lajja Goswami, Lalita Dube, and Hema K C won the gold with 1592 points while Ramandeep Sandhu, Deshu Tomar and Preeti Tomar from Punjab team won the silver with 1567 points. BSF Additional Deputy Director General D K Pande presented the medals to the winners.
