RESIDENTS AT several localities of this temple town were surprised to see eunuchs at their doors on Sunday morning. But they were amazed when they found that the eunuchs did not demand money but asked them to bring their children below five years for administering of polio drops.

The Rotary Club, which has joined the pulse polio campaign, sought the help of the eunuchs to reach out to more and more children. Eunuchs responded positively.

Eunuchs Shabnam and Reena travelled through Indra Nagar for the social cause. They said politicians and film stars often restrict themselves to appealing for polio drive through advertisements. They should campaign door to door like they do during elections for better results of the pulse polio drive, the eunichs said.

Shabnam said eunuchs feel their responsibility towards society and that’s why they have joined the pulse polio campaign. She regretted that eunuchs till today do not enjoy respectabality in society.

The Rotary Club’s former district governor Ravi Prakash Langer said although the participation of eunuchs was symbolic, it had given good results.
