The Modern Jail in Kapurthala has landed in a controversy after an inmate was mercilessly beaten by another inmate who then uploaded the gruesome act on his Facebook page using his personal smartphone.

The accused Sukhvir Singh alias Sukha Kahlwan, who is lodged in the jail on charges of killing BJP leader Sudershan Dhillon, along with 15 to 16 acomplices reportedly thrashed another prisoner to settle an old rivalry.

Sukhvir, an alleged sharp shooter, had created his page on the social networking site Facebook on October 1 and had been updating it regularly from the jail premises. He has around 16,000 likes on his page.

The uploaded video is full of abusive content.

Surprisingly, Kapurthala deputy superintendent of police Balwinder Singh, was not aware of the incident.

"I am not aware of the incident. After earlier incident in the month, we had booked Sukhvir and later shifted him to Nabha to avoid any untoward incident. But soon, we will bring him back on a production warrant and will probe the videos uploaded by him," he said.

Sukhvir was shifted to Kapurthala just three days ago, after Kotwali police had registered a case against him on October 9 for beating up the jail warden.
