The Oversight Committee, going into the task of preparing a roadmap for the implementation of 27 per cent OBC reservation in elite educational institutions, will give its interim report to the Government by the end of this month.
"Before the end of this month, the interim report will be given," Chairman of the Committee M Veerappa Moily, said.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the Committee, scheduled on Thursday, has been postponed.
When asked about reasons for the postponement, the former Karnataka Chief Minister said there was no particular reason for the postponement.
He said all the five sub-groups had given their reports to the Committee, Moily said "we have to make lot of efforts and it cannot be a half-baked exercise". The committee had sought some more particulars from the sub-groups.
He said he had been meeting Chairmen of the sub-groups almost daily and discussing the issue.
The committee was to draft the interim report on the basis of the reports of the five sub-groups which went into topics like technological and engineering institutions, management institutions, Central universities, medical and agricultural institutes.
Though the committee was to submit its report by August 31, it had decided to give an interim report in order to facilitate government to take advance planning for the implementation.
The postponement of the meeting comes in the midst of reports that some of the sub-groups had favoured staggered implementation and some suggesting that it was possible in one go.
