Ragging in MANIT; 2 students expelled

IN A swift action, the Proctorial Board of the Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) expelled two students of B Tech II year within an hour after they were caught ragging junior students.

The two students who were expelled on charges of ragging included Amit Kumar Singh of B Tech II (Computer Science) and Ankit Dokania of B Tech II (Information Technology).

The expulsion came after an emergency meeting of the Proctorial Board and Wardens of hostels of MANIT was held at around 10 pm in the MANIT premises. As per the decision of the board, the students were expelled permanently and also asked to vacate the hostel and leave the campus of the institute with immediate effect.

Earlier, the director of MANIT Dr K S Pandey and dean (administration) Ashutosh Shukla caught the two students red handed while ragging junior students (of first year) who have recently joined the institute.

The students were immediately held back and the meeting of the board was convened. The board decided to expel the students permanently, MANIT PRO A K Mittal told Hindustan Times.
