Our reticent Oscar nominee A R Rahman has finally packed his bags for the big night. When he left for LA on Friday, his bag had a variety of options that his stylist Vijayeta Kumar suggested him and his wife Saira to wear. Besides a Rohit Bal outfit, as reported by this paper a couple of days ago, the bag carries a Lanvin and an Armani Tux and perhaps a Sabyasachi Mukherjee creation too.

According to TSG International’s CEO Charu Sachdev, Rahman has bought a Lanvin tux from their store in Bangalore. “Besides, he had also bought a gray pintuck shirt and a black shirt to go along with the tuxedo,” she says.

According to sources, fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has also made a set of clothes for both Rahman and Saira. Apparently, the Kolkata-based designer has made a Kashmiri-kantha black tone-on-tone kurta and Aligarhi pyjamas for Rahman and a bodycon (body- contoured) kurta and an antique dupatta for Saira. “Sabya was very happy that Saira chose to wear Indian at the Oscars,” says the source. Besides, sources confirm, Saira has also got a couple of outfits made by a tailor in Chennai.

Kumar, who has put together a few garments for Rahman and Saira, says that the couple will be attending other events besides the red carpet at the Oscars.” With all these options in the kitty, let’s see what the maestro finally decides for the big night!
