Congress General Secretary and MP Rahul Gandhi, who is on a visit to Egypt, on Wednesday met Arab League chief Amr Musa and discussed the conditions in the Middle East and south western Asia, including Indo-Pak ties, Afghanistan situation and Iran.

Gandhi briefed Arab League Secretary General Musa on the Indian expertise in realising development, combating poverty, spreading education and improving health services, a statement released by the League said in Cairo.

The talks between the two also tackled the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, the US administration's stand in this respect and the pressures Israel is exercising to evade the two-state solution, the statement said.

The League, a 22-member body consists of Arab states, was formed in 1946 to draw closer relations between member states and coordinate collaboration between them to safeguards their independence and sovereignty.
