Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi attacked BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi in his election rallies in east UP on Tuesday.

“Narendra Modi has not appointed Lokayukta in Gujarat. The day Modi appoints Lokayukta in his state he will be behind bars,” Rahul said in Mirzapur.

Taking a pot shot at Modi’s Gujarat model, he said: “When we exposed Modi’s Gujarat model, he stopped referring to it in his election rallies.”

He also attacked Modi for his relations with industrialist Gautam Adani. Rahul said that the Congress government provided Rs 30,000 crore to Gujarat under MNREGA but Modi gave away Rs 40,000 crore to Adani.

In Sonbhadra, Rahul promised free medical aid to poor and pension for senior citizens. “If Congress forms the next government at the Centre, various employment schemes will be launched for unemployed youths of Sonbhadra,” Rahul said.

In Jaunpur, he attacked Modi on the snoop-gate scandal in Gujarat. “Modi claims to empower women but in his own state Gujarat women are being subjected to surveillance by cops illegally,” he said.
