The CBI, which is probing the BJP legislator Krishnand Rai murder case, on Sunday, arrested two persons from Lilapur village in the district in connection with the murder besides raiding a house in the Mohamadabad area in the neighbouring Ghazipur district.
A CBI team raided a house in Lilapur village and picked up two persons including one Rakesh Pandey considered to be close to controversial independent MLA Mukhtar Ansari, a prime accused in the case.
Another CBI team raided a house in the Mohamdabad town, Ansari's home town, in search of some other suspects but they were not found there, police said in Mau.
Rai and his six supporters were killed in a shootout in Ghazipur district last year.
Samajwadi party MP Afzal Ansari, his brother Mukhtar and some others had been named in the murder case and were currently in jail.
