Rail services between Garwa Road and Barkakhana route were disrupted for over three hours on Sunday after activists of Sawadaliya Sangharsh Morcha, a front of several organisations, squatted on the track in protest against the killing of one Sanjay Agarwal allegedly by railway police on 18th June last.
Hundreds of activists put up the blockade at Daltongunj railway station demanding immediate arrest of the culprits, Rs 10 lakh compensation and a government job to the victim's family member.
Railway sources said the rail services were badly hit due to the blockade.
Police had to forcibly disperse the squatters and cleared the tracks after three hours.
Agarwal, on his way back to Daltongunj from Ramgarh alongwith his family by UP Palamu express, had an altercation with railway police personnel over vacating seat in the general compartment.
He was badly beaten up by the railway police personnel and rushed to Sadar hospital in Medninagar where he succumbed to his injuries the next day, the police said.
The district administration had ordered a probe by a magistrate in this regard, Dy. SP Ashwini Kumar Sinha said.
In his report, the magistrate had confirmed that the death was due to severe injuries which Agarwal had suffered during the scuffle.
