Torrential rains triggered flooding that washed away or severely damaged dozens of homes in a village in northwestern Pakistan, killing 13 people and injuring about 300 others, the military said.
Heavy rains lashed the village of Gorvek in the mountainous tribal region of North Waziristan, bordering Afghanistan, on Monday and Sunday, the military's Inter-Services Public Relations department said.
Dozens of the mud and stone-built homes were either washed away or severely damaged, the department said, adding that the dead included women and children.
Army troops launched a rescue operation in which the bodies of 13 flood victims were recovered while 300 other villagers received treatment for injuries from the flooding, it said.
