CRICKETER SURESH Raina sure writes faster than he bats… or, at least faster than the average student at the university. This celeb cricketer—who is taking the ongoing Lucknow University (LU) final examinations—left the examination hall a good 30 minutes before writing time was up this Saturday morning. And, mediapersons who landed up after exam-time, to find out how Raina had ‘faced’ the question paper googlies, were stumped.

But the Social Work Department teachers wouldn’t say whether Raina had indeed, attempted all the questions! In the evening though, Raina took out time after the evening meeting to ‘bat’ questions. He said, “The varsity teachers have been very kind. They gave me special guidance that helped me study properly. I got enough time to prepare after the England tour. Hence, there was absolutely no problem. I have done reasonably well and am satisfied with the paper.”

“I owe a lot to the LU administration and controller of examination RBS Verma, who made special arrangements that actually helped me to take the examination. I had missed the examinations because of the international cricketing schedule. But LU agreed and made special arrangements for me to write my papers later. I hope I do well,” he said.

Controller of Examinations RBS Verma said: “I’m happy that he took the examinations. As regards helping him, we just made arrangements so that he could take the papers now when he had time off from his cricketing schedule. RP Singh will also be provided a similar option. Considering their limitations, these international players have been given some relaxations but then, they have to appear in the examination.”

But all said and done, on a special request by Raina, the LU administration did not allow any mediapersons to photograph the celeb examinee while he was writing his exams!
