Heavy rains continued to lash most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh for the second consecutive day on Thursday, disrupting normal life.

While Ambala was drenched by 131.7 mm of rainfall, Chandigarh received 106 mm of rains, the MET office said in Chandigarh.
Patiala in Punjab received 71.2 mm of rainfall followed by 38 mm in Rohtak in Haryana and 37 mm in Narnaul. Hisar received 15.1 mm of rain followed by 9.6 mm in Karnal and 6.6 in Gurgaon. Ludhiana in Punjab received 0.6 mm of rainfall.
Rain waters inundated low lying areas of the region and several roads in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh were flooded by water affecting the movement of traffic.
While the rain is considered beneficial for the standing Kharif crops, it has caused damaged to a variety of paddy sown early by the farmers.
The MET office predicted rain or thunder showers at few places in Punjab and Haryana during the next two days.
