According to reports, five members of a family including three women and two children were killed in Farsauli village of Lansdown block in Pauri district on the wee hours of Friday after the house in which they were sleeping was flattened owing to heavy rains. In neighbouring Silanya Gunthi village two persons drowned in the local stream.
Madaniya village in Yamkeshwar block has been washed away and five villagers have been killed. In Kaljikhal, two have been killed in landslides after the flashfloods.
More than 300 people are stranded in the Yamkeshwar block. District magistrate Chandrasekhar Bhatt told that he has requested the government to evacuate people from the area. Meanwhile officials have been rushed to the affected areas.
In the Kishanpur area of Dehradun, two people were crushed under debris after their house's roof fell on them. Two others staying in same house are battling for their life in a local hospital. In Haridwar, the Ganga river is flowing above the danger mark and the administration has evacuated people from the low lying Baraigi camp area.
The metrological department has predicted heavy rains for another 24 hours in state.
