An FIR has been registered against controversial independent MLA and former minister in previous Samajwadi Party government Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya for allegedly giving a false affidavit to procure arms licence from the state capital, police said on Sunday.

The FIR was registered late last night in which the MLA was charged with securing three arms licence by showing his Lucknow address and hiding his Pratapgarh address, police said.

In the probe conducted by Hazratganj police in Lucknow, Raja Bhaiya was found guilty of providing false information to secure his arms licences.

The MLA has stated in his affidavit that he was not involved in any criminal cases and no cases were registered against him. However, police said that 41 cases were registered against Raja Bhaiya.

While inquiry related to two arms - a rifle and a single barrel gun - has been completed, they said adding that probe was on regarding issuance of pistol licence.

Raja Bhaiya was booked under POTA in previous BSP regime.
