A day after Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s rally in Deoli (Tonk), party MLA from Sardarshahar, Bhanwar Lal Sharma on Tuesday quit from the party over “the lack of democracy”.
“I am feeling suffocated since last few days. Whether it is Rahul Gandhi, Pilot or the leader of opposition Rameshwar Dudi, all of them are nominated not elected. Dudi is a first time MLA and Pilot is Gandhi’s man. Senior leaders are not consulted. I have been six times MLA but none consulted me when the Churu ticket was discussed,” Sharma said.
Sharma sent his resignation through fax to party president Sonia Gandhi. “If required, I might resign as MLA, along with four or five others,” claimed Sharma.
While he claims party tickets were being ‘sold’, a senior Congress leader said Sharma had been cosying up to the BJP and had even given Rahul Gandhi’s rally a miss to meet chief minister Vasundhara Raje.
Sharma has alleged that the Churu Lok Sabha seat ticket was sold for `22 crore.
