The Kolkata-bound Rajdhani express was blocked by a group of passengers at Dankuni station in the Hooghly district, about 20 km north west of Kolkata.

The train was finally allowed to move at about 11:30 am.

The incident happened at about 9-40 a.m. when the train, proceeding towards Howrah station, was stopped by a CPI(M)-backed passengers’ organization. They agitators were demanding inadequate infrastructure of the railways and lack of local trains resulting in passenger harassment. They demanded that senior officers of the railways should arrive at the spot to address their grievances.
