Tamil superstar Rajinikanth, admitted to a private hospital in Chennai for a recurrent respiratory infection and gastrointestinal problems, is progressing well.
"He is in a ward (not Intensive Care Unit) and has been progressing well. He has been advised complete rest by the doctors attending on him," a heath bulletin issued by Sri Ramachandra Medical University said on Sunday.
The 61-year-old actor was admitted on Saturday night to the Sri Ramachandra Medical University (SRMU) at suburban Porur, days after he was discharged from another hospital where he was treated for allergic bronchitis and viral fever.
Rajnikant's family had on Friday dismissed reports that his health had deteriorated.
The Enthiran star had suffered from exhaustion on April 29, the first day of the shoot of his new period film Rana co-starring Deepika Padukone, which is being directed by KS Ravikumar.
He was admitted to Isabel Hospital in the city and discharged the same day, only to be re-admitted there on May 4 for allergic bronchitis and viral fever.
