Bharatiya Janata Party president Rajnath Singh on Monday said there was no truth in the reports that an alliance had been finalised between the Ram Vilas Paswan-led LJP and his party.

"I am not aware... If some announcement has to be made, you will be told," Singh said when asked about speculation of an alliance between the two parties for Lok Sabha polls in Bihar.

On whether parleys were underway between the BJP and the LJP, Singh said discussions keep taking place among political parties.

LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan's son Chirag Paswan also denied reports of an alliance.

"Both the party presidents have very good relations. (LJP pesident) Ram Vilas Pasawan and (BJP president) Rajnath Singh do meet each other on various public occasions, but then if you are asking me about the talk of an alliance between the two presidents then it is a no," Chirag Paswan told the media.

He said the LJP will decide on the future strategy after the meeting of the parliamentary board.

"There has been distrust among the party leaders as there has been no clarity on the alliance. We are soon going to have the party parliamentary meet which will decide what our future strategy is going to be about," he said.

There are media reports that an alliance between the LJP and the BJP has been finalised. Ram Vilas Paswan had quit the BJP in 2002 protesting against the Gujarat riots.

"Narendra Modi has already been given clean chit by the court on the 2002 riots cases so that is not an issue to talk about now," he added.

Meanwhile, a BJP leader from Bihar Sanjay Paswan said the two parties were on the verge of a tie-up and announcement would be made shortly.

"One Dalit leader has joined us today. Another will join in a day or two. So BJP will have two of the three important dalit leaders who were so far outside it," Sanjay Paswan said.

BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar said many parties are thinking of joining BJP which is surging and Congress is losing.

He, however, said anything could be shared only when something concrete happens.
