Rally on safe drinking water importance held

ON THE second day of the two-day celebrations of World Water Day by NGO WaterAid, a rally was organised to highlight and spread the message of ?importance of safe drinking water, sanitation and water conservation in our lives?.

ON THE second day of the two-day celebrations of World Water Day by NGO WaterAid, a rally was organised to highlight and spread the message of ‘importance of safe drinking water, sanitation and water conservation in our lives’.

About 600 men women and children from MP, Chhattisgarh and UP participated in the rally that was flagged off by regional manager of WaterAid Mamita Thakkar from Aicuf Ashram, Shahpura.

The rally went past Habibganj Police Station, Hanuman Mandir area and concluded at Aicuf Ashram. The participants carried placards having slogans and performed dances, songs and also raised slogans – all stressing on importance of safe water and need of sanitation.

Participants from Sankalp and LSS, Durg, came dressed in tribal attire, to reinforce the theme of the rally `water and culture’.

It is planned that a memorandum would be submitted later to the government, highlighting some of the major issues and concerns of the sector and to seek support from the Government in the programme.
