Rally to redress problems faced by girls

With an objective to redress the problems of girls, a massive awareness rally was taken out on the occasion of Girls? Day here in Varanasi on Thursday.

With an objective to redress the problems of girls, a massive awareness rally was taken out on the occasion of Girls’ Day here in Varanasi on Thursday.

The rally was taken out from Indira Gandhi Balika Inter College in Suthawa area under the banner of Social Action and Research Centre, an NGO, which after passing through several places culminated at the starting venue.

A large number of girl students from different schools including Indira Gandhi Balika Inter College, Chetan Bal Vidya Mandir and Kasturba Balika Inter College participated in the rally.

The girl students were holding placards depicting several slogans such as 'Bal Vivah Band Karo', 'Yaun Hinsa Band Karo', Bhrun Katya Band Karo etc during procession. Ranjana Gaur of SARC said that a large number of girls were being exploited in the male dominated society.

A social worker Runa Mishra was the chief guest of the function while principal of Indira Gandhi Balika Inter College Purnima Dixit presided over the function. Rajesh of SARC conducted the programme.    

Meanwhile, a social organisation, ‘ASMITA’, will organise a peace rally at district headquarters on Friday to mark the Girls’ Day. Father Dilraj of the organization said that Labour Commissioner of Varanasi, Kanchchan Singh would be the chief guest of the rally.
