Two major Ram Lila organisers in Delhi on Sunday carried out Bhoomi Poojan at the premises where the 10-day gala event depicting the life and times of Lord Rama would be held in October.
Member of Parliament and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Jai Prakash Agrawal, who is also the chief patron of the Shree Ram Lila Committee, performed the ritual pooja at the Ram Lila Maidan, where Ram Lila has been held since the Mughal era.
At the Shree Dharmic Leela Committee venue, opposite Old Lajpat Rai Market, Red Fort Ground, Delhi Mayor Prithviraj Sawhney performed the Bhoomi Pooja. MCD Leader of the House Subhash Arya and Director General of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) Dr Gautam Sengupta were also present on the occasion.
Ram Lila would be held this year from October 7 to 17 to coincide with the Commonwealth Games 2010 extravaganza.
