Trade chatter is that Ranbir Kapoor, like his senior colleagues, will get a percentage of the profits from one of his movies that gets off the ground shortly.

It is learnt that Ranbir will get five per cent in the overall profits of Ajab Pyaar ki Gajab Kahani, which Rajkumar Santoshi is directing for Tips.

It also features Katrina Kaif.

Advance booking
A source at the production company says that Ranbir had been paid a handsome price. Of this, 75 per cent of the amount was paid in advance. But since Ranbir was already committed to a couple of other projects, the immediate allotment of dates was not feasible.

Consequently, Ramesh Taurani offered him five per cent of the profits, so he could get the dates on priority.

Ajab Pyaar ki Gajab Kahani is based on Dr Asghar Wajahat's novel Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhiya, O Jamian He Nahin.

Set against the backdrop of the Partition, the story has a strong message of peaceful co-existence and has already been adapted into a successful play.
