Being a part of the Kapoor clan, acting runs in Ranbir's blood and he has taken forward his family's legacy with élan. Ranbir is a true performer and till date hasn't been criticised for his acting skills in a single film.
Ranbir started his career with two short films- Passion to Love (2002) and India 1964 (2004). Then he went on to assist Sanjay Leela Bhansali for Black (2005).
Bhansali also gave Ranbir his first break in Saawariya (2007) opposite newcomer Sonam Kapoor. Although the film bombed at the box office, Ranbir's act was highly appreciated. Everyone knew a star was in the making. All Indian film Awards that year honoured Ranbir with best male debut. In 2008, Ranbir went on to feature in Bachna Ae Haseeno, where he romanced Bipasha Basu, Minissha Lamba and Deepika Padukone. He also locked lips with the three beauties in this film. The film was a semi-hit and won Ranbir critical acclaim.
2009 was a good year for the Kapoor boy. He starred in Wake Up Sid with Konkona Sen, Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani with Katrina Kaif and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year. The films were critically and commercially successful.
2010 saw the actor in a multi-starrer Rajneeti, which was a blockbuster. In the same year, he also appeared opposite Priyanka Chopra in Anjaana Anjaani which was a moderate hit.

Newbie Nargis Fakhri made her acting debut with this film, which was a BO hit.In 2012, Ranbir charmed everyone with his act of a deaf-mute guy in Barfi!, also starring Priyanka Chopra and Ileana D'Cruz. On Bollywood: "Today I have completed five years in the industry. Saawariya came and went in a day while Barfi ran for several days. The journey has been good and wonderful. I want to do more films and more exciting characters. I am looking forward to doing good work. It feels great to be here. I feel I have got lifetime achievement award."
On love and marriage: ""If I meet the right person, I would love to get married. I always think that I will get true love in my life. I hope I can really find that person soon with whom I can live my whole life."
On tattooing beloved names: "Since I get linked every day, I might as well keep changing the name of the girls with a pen than a permanent tattoo."On Barfi!: "I think the entire credit goes to Anurag Basu for making such a superb film, and to the producers for supporting his vision. Priyanka (Chopra) and Ileana (D'Cruz) are fantastic and I'm thankful to dada (Anurag) for thinking of such a role for me. We knew that we were making a good film. But the kind of love Barfi! has already got is amazing."
On Katrina Kaif: "I have worked with Katrina in two films and I genuinely feel she is one of the nicest, coolest, and most hard-working girls, other than being beautiful, talented and normal ... a girl I can hang out and have great conversations with. I have a great connect with her as a friend and that is sometimes misconstrued. It's a small industry and we end up working with the same people and meeting the same people, which tends to bring you close. That's about it. I was always her dear friend."
On his aspiration: "I aspire to be the biggest superstar and the greatest actor in the country someday! How much time, sacrifice and work that will require I don't know, but I am willing to put in all that to achieve it."
On importance of looks: "I am an immensely arrogant person where talent is concerned. I may not be the best looking guy around, may not have the best body and may not even be the most talented guy in the industry, but I have immense faith in my talent, my passion and my drive. And I have a good heart, which is what the audience connects with. You could have the best body, like Sylvester Stallone, with a great face, like Brad Pitt, but the audience connects with someone only if he has sincerity in his heart."
On success: "I am here for the long run, so I don't want to feel successful so early in my career. Also, I am too young to feel success and failure. I want to grope in the dark, struggle and work hard. At no point do I want to put up my feet and feel that I have arrived."
On Kareena Kapoor: "Bebo was always a patakhi (bomb), khulla (straightforward), bindaas (bold) girl and she continues to be like that even today. There's no façade to her. And this openness makes her appealing to the audience. She doesn't take her job that seriously, yet she's so good at it. I am really proud of her. She has an inborn talent and she has been like this since childhood."
On Deepika Pdukone: "I am pleasantly shocked and surprised seeing her growth as an actor. Apart from working together, I've also been in a relationship with her and her growth as a human being has been amazing. When we meet, I can see the confidence she now has. She has changed as a person. I've always maintained that she is a beautiful person. Apart from being physically attractive, she is beautiful from within. Deepika has surrendered to her work brilliantly. I was really amazed by her performance in Cocktail."
