Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao is to meet US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of her visit here to prepare the ground for President Barack Obama’s visit to India in November.
Rao had her first meeting Thursday evening with William Burns, Under Secretary in the State Department, roughly her counterpart in the US foreign policy establishment.
Neither party spoke to media about the meeting.
The foreign secretary will be meeting officials in the commerce department and in the National Security Council.
Her last meeting in Washington would be with Clinton.
It will take place at the Foggy Bottom headquarters of the State Department shortly. William Burns and Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Robert Blake are likely to attend the meeting too.
